The NHO has established a scheme to reward hospitals which are maintaining high performing emergency departments. Additional consultant posts will be approved for hospitals which have been able to reduce waiting times for those who require admission to hospital and who have also managed to balance the demand of elective and emergency work and who refer patients who have been waiting for prolonged time to the NTPF.
