Providing Feedback on Draft Incident Management Framework Guidance Documents

Mr Patrick Lynch, National Director Quality Assurance and Verification Division commissioned a review of the HSE Incident Management Policy, 2014. A Co-Design Incident Management Group with representatives from National Divisions, Hospital Groups and CHO’s was set up to develop the draft Incident Management Framework and related guidance using a co-design approach.

The development of the draft Incident Management Framework and related guidance was informed by:

  1. A series of listening sessions held with key stakeholders
  2. The requirements of the draft National Standards for the conduct of Reviews of Patient Safety Incidents
  3. International approaches to Incident Management, in particular consultation with Healthcare Improvement Scotland and Health Quality & Safety Commission New Zealand.

The Co-Design Group are now pleased to present for consultation the draft Incident Management Framework and related guidance which has been designed to provide services with an approach to incident management which places emphasis on supporting services and staff providing a range of proportionate and responsive options for the review of incidents.

All staff and external stakeholders of the HSE are encouraged to participate in the consultation of the draft Incident Management Framework and related guidance. The consultation period will run for four weeks commencing 5th May 2017 to 5th June 2017 and will be managed on the HSE Website via a series of surveys that are embedded into the draft Incident Management Framework and guidance documents.

As with every aspect of the process to date, your views are important and I would ask that you would take time to participate in this consultation process. To access the draft Framework and related guidance please follow the instructions below.
