A National Guideline for Nurse/Midwife Facilitated Discharge Planning has been developed in 2009. A resource guide (A Guide to Support Integrated Discharge Planning Staff Education) to support education on discharge planning in individual sites was published also. This is available to download on the IDP Hub. In Integrated discharge Planning Hub has been developed on HSELanD. It is an online facility with a range of educational resources to support discharge planning practice.

An evualuation of patient flow from Emergency Departments to wards was undertaken in 5 pilot sites (Selected by the A&E Forum) in February. The learning from the evaluation will inform practice relating to patient flow and discharge planning in 5 sites and beyond.
