Aims

The Population FactFile website aims to provide a single point of access to HSE activity and policy data in an up-to-date and accessible manner to both the general public and HSE staff alike. Population FactFile aims to provide an accessible location to pull these various activity data sources together into one electronic location and present it in a manner that is timely, accurate, intelligible and relevant to all.

Objectives

The objectives of the Population FactFile project are to identify and utilise existing data sources and collection systems within the organisation.

Outcomes

A central Population FactFile website is now available on the HSE main website. Population FactFile meets its primary aims and objectives and provides a useful location point for accurate up-to-date information on HSE activity data and policy approach and heightens awareness of HSE outputs amongst staff and the general public.

Operational Protocol – Data Quality Assurance

• The Population FactFile website only uses published HSE activity data and reports.
• All data sources are fully referenced on the Population FactFile website.
• All queries regarding data quality are followed to the data source.
• All data entry to Population FactFile will be double checked for accuracy prior to publication.
• We endeavour to undertake face validation on data supplied, on identification of anomalies we will refer to the appropriate data source provider.
• Where a replication error is identified on the FactFile website i.e. error made at FactFile level, this will be amended immediately by the Population FactFile team. All other queries will be referred to the data source providers for review and amendment as appropriate
