The Story So Far

Values in Action began in mid-2016 in the Mid West, as a partnership between the UL Hospital Group and Mid West Community Healthcare supported by the national HR, Communications and Quality Improvement Divisions and the Programme for Health Service Improvement.

Since Values in Action began, it has become clear that there is a significant appetite amongst staff to support and lead this movement throughout the health service. We now have over 400 champions across the Mid West who are working to spread the behaviours that underpin Values in Action in their workplaces.

We undertook a 6 month pulse survey in the Mid West to understand the difference Values in Action is making. Here's what we found.



We will continue to track our progress and show the impact that our champions are having in creating better workplaces for our staff and delivering better experiences to patients and service users.  Against the backdrop of the positive impact in the Mid West, the HSE with the support of the Director General, has recently established a team to bring Values in Action to other parts of the organisation. The Values in Action team is now partnering with various parts of the health service to spread the Values in Action approach across the health service.

This October marks the start of bringing Values in Action to all staff reporting within the HSE National Divisions. We have identified over 400 champions from within the National Divisions who will be leading this culture change at the centre of the organisation.
