Flooding

flooded homesOver recent years many areas have experienced emergencies as a result of localised flooding.

On these occasions Environmental Health Officers will endeavour to advise those affected on how best to avoid ill health as a result of flood water entering their homes and businesses. Priority is given to premises selling food and drink, and to those areas where the drinking water supply has been affected by flood waters.

In order to assist householders in general the Environmental Health Service has produced an information leaflet on cleaning procedures for flooded homes which highlights some of the risks associated with flood water and precautions to be taken in such an event.
