About Us
A multi-disciplinary Clinical Audit Support Team (CAST) was established in 2000 at Sligo General Hospital and has been instrumental in developing a culture of quality and service improvements throughout the hospital.
Staff members have a variety of clinical backgrounds and experience to assist the range of health professionals across the organisation.
The skills provided by the team include best practice methodology, IT and internet skills, research skills, surveying and reporting, statistical analysis, presentation, secretarial, general management and quality improvement skills.
The role of Clinical Audit Support Team is:
1. To encourage and facilitate the development of clinical audit as a key quality improvement technique throughout the hospital through education and practical support
2. To assist with:
- Literature searches
- Audit design and planning
- Proforma and questionnaire design
- Data sourcing
- Data collection
- Data analysis
- Production of the audit report
- Training and education sessions
- Assistance with presentation material, powerpoint presentations and poster design
- Evaluation of audit projects and programmes
- Production of abstracts and papers
3. Attend audit presentations within the hospital to assist completing the audit recommendations and to stress the need to reaudit and complete the audit cycle
4. To provide information and advice on setting up clinical audit teams in other regions in the country
5. Attend ICAN (Irish Clinical Audit Network) meetings when possible
