HSE West (Sligo/Leitrim/Donegal) Library Service

The HSE West (SLD) service exists to provide staff in the HSE West (SLD) with the information resources they require to enhance their personal and professional development and so contribute to effective patient care based on best practice. Access to information should not be dependent on geographical location and the Library service, therefore, aims to provide information, whenever possible, without the need for a personal visit to the Library.

The Library service seeks to combine the benefits of traditional services and print collections with those of web based resource provision. The Region's Libraries in Sligo and Letterkenny offer printed book and journal collections, photocopying and inter-library loan services, an information service, access to computing facilities and the Internet and space to study. Library staff also provide training in how to access both print and electronic resources. Our web based resources include major medical, nursing and managemnt databases as well as access to the full text of over 5000 journals across a range of health related disciplines.
