New EU Regulation 883./04 comes into effect 1st May 2010
- Under the new legislation Ireland will have to issue the EHIC for All Pensioners and their dependents resident in other EEA States.
- Such Pensioners should have registered their E121 Forms with the Health Authority in their State of residence.
- This legislation also applies to the dependents of an insured person in Ireland where the dependents reside in another EEA State and the E109 is registered with the Health Authority of that State.
To facilitate this change Ireland will write to the authorities in each EEA State explaining the procedure we have in place for such persons to apply for an Irish issued EHIC.
