The HSE's National Hospital Office launched its new Code of Practice for Healthcare Records Management 23rd May 2007.

These new standard codes of practices will mean improved patient information available to healthcare professionals and patients.

The code outlines a framework for best practice in ensuring consistent, coherent healthcare records management in all public and private healthcare facilities throughout the country.

These new guidelines will apply to all patient information collected including; electronic and paper based records, photographs, slides, x-rays and birth/operation certificates.
