When Vision for Change was published in 2006, it set out an ambitious 10 year programme of service reform, modernisation and change. In January 2011 we arrived at the mid point of this journey and it was time to mark and acknowledge progress made by our mental health services in realising the Vision. While some aspects have not materialised as we would have hoped, many great strides have been taken. With the survey we will be in a position to better articulate the changes that have taken place in our mental health services throughout the country.
All 209 Vision recommendations have been included. Those relevant to the HSE have been reduced to a closed question, requiring a simple answer, Yes, No, a number or tick box.
This will provide a quantitative viewpoint on progress. This approach is being complemented by an eNewsletter which provides a platform for services to describe in more detail how they have operationalised the recommendations in Vision.
This survey presents an opportunity to recognise the great work done in each expanded catchment area to advance the Vision.
Thanks again for your time and continued commitment to Vision for Change
