The Cardiac First Responder (CFR) Guide originally launched in March 2008 has been updated and reprinted. The guide gives practical advice and information on developing a cardiac first response programme in communities, including offices, factories, colleges, schools and sports clubs. It details the ‘chain of survival’, gives types of CFR programmes, discusses priority areas/sites and outlines basic requirements of a CFR programme.
The reason for the update and reprint is due to the initial 1000 guides having been distributed to the community and the fact that the standard for AED signage in Irelandhas recently changed to the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) recommended signage (announced by ILCOR in May 2008). The opportunity was also taken to include some small changes based on feedback from users of the guide to date.
The guide is a collaborative effort between the HSE, PHECC and the Irish Heart Foundation.
