A new booklet, Safe Sleep for your Baby – Reduce the Risk of Cot Death, is now available for distribution to parents/carers.
It aims to guide and support parents, guardians, health professionals and anyone involved in caring for a child on the various measures which can be taken to ensure a baby’s risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is as low as possible.
This valuable new booklet which is highly visual has been developed jointly by the HSE and the National SIDS Register and replaces the purple leaflet Caring for your Child.
In line with best practice, it provides detailed information on the guidelines, formulated from the latest evidence-based information on SIDS, and presented in a clear and accessible format.
The booklet contains the key points on the cover page and these points are explained in more detail throughout the booklet.
Our objective is to provide every family in the country with a copy of this new booklet so that awareness of SIDS is raised both during pregnancy and following birth.
