Mayo General Hospital (MGH) has 339 beds. Its aim is to deliver high quality and equitable care for all its patients, in a safe and secure environment, and to achieve excellence in clinical practice, teaching, training and research. The hospital has an ongoing modernisation programme and has recently introduced new computer based systems such as a Laboratory Computerised system.  MGH provides a comprehensive range of emergency and elective services to Inpatients and Outpatients.

There is a dedicated symptomatic Mammography service with direct professional links to the Galway Regional cancer centre. There are currently two ultrasound rooms providing general, gynaecological and musculoskeletal applications.  Mayo General Hospital has MRI and CT Scanning facilities. Each Department has structured teaching for NCHD’s with Grand Rounds on a Wednesday.

Educational Facilities for Medical Staff:
Opening Hours: Mon, Wed, Thurs 9.30 a.m – 8pm.  Tues & Fri 9.30pm – 5pm
Research Facilities are provided and educational facilities include 1 Lecture hall, 1 Conference Room and 1 NCHD room with 6 P.C’s with 24 hour internet access.
