Where are we?
The Library is located in the Centre of Nurse Education, Education Centre, Waterford Regional Hospital
What do we do?
Waterford Regional Hospital (WRH) Library is the largest of 5 staffed libraries in the HSE South East and provides a range of information services and support to those engaged in study, research or continuing professional development; or in sourcing evidence to assist in clinical practice.
Open to all staff, the library offers the physical space in an often hectic acute hospital environment, together with the ICT infrastructure and library staffexpertise, to permit meaningful engagement with a comprehensive range of reference books, journals, and an expanding store of online e-library resources.
Online resources comprise essential health databases such as Medline, CINAHL and PsycInfo, full-text access to approx. 2,500 e-journals and a core e-book collection. All registered library users are set up with a personal e-libraryaccount, enabling them to retrieve information from online resources 24/7 from any Internet-enabled PC, either within the hospital or from home.
Our services are intended to ensure that point-of-care decisions are informed by best international evidence and that staff engaged in education or research have an available knowledge resource, and assistance when they need it.
How to access this service?
On entering the main hospital entrance, go left past the reception desk. Go through the double doors next to the Physiotherapy department and proceed up the stairs. The library is clearly signposted from here
Our Aim
The remit of our library services is to provide access to a comprehensive range of evidence-based, up-to-date knowledge resources for the purposes of: research into specific clinical questions, conditions or treatments relevant to the care of individual patients; keeping up to date with developments in a specific area of the health sciences, or the professional literature of a given specialty; and continuing professional education.
Recent Developments
The library recently launched a new, fully integrated e-library, which enables hospital staff to quickly and easily search across all our online resources simultaneously.
