Mission Statement
“To facilitate clients to achieve their maximum independence and quality of life through Occupational Therapy intervention within available resources and in line with the mission statement of Waterford Regional Hospital “
Where are we?
The Occupational Therapy Department are bi-located:
The main Department are located in the main Hospital Block just off the main foyer through Physiotherapy. You can approach it through the Physiotherapy Department or from the OPD department corridor opposite OPD3.
The Rheumatology and Age Related Care Unit (ARCU) Occupational Therapy Services are located in St Teresa’s Unit, which is at the end of the block of building immediately on your right as soon as you enter the main gate of the hospital.
What do we do?
We work with individuals who through illness and/or disability can no longer function independently and carry out their roles in life. We facilitate individuals to reach their goals in the areas of self care, work and leisure activities through training, education or adaptation of techniques. We use personal care activities, splinitingIf none of this works, then we use adaptive equipment to facilitate independence. We also train families and carers to ensure they have the appropriate information and approach when caring.
