The Orthopaedic Service in Waterford Regional Hospital includes:
- 2 Trauma Orthopaedic Wards (Orthopaedic 1 and Orthopaedic 2)
- An Orthopaedic 6 bedded Day Unit in the Surgical Day Services Unit (SDSU)
- An Out Patients suite for Fracture and Elective Clinics (OPD1)
- Trauma Orthopaedic Theatre in General Theatre.
The following information will focus on the 2 Trauma Orthopaedic Ward
Where are we?
The Orthopaedic wards are located on the ground floor of the hospital. They are well signed from the main entrance. If unsure, please ask for direction.
What do we do?
Orthopaedic 1 and Orthopaedic 2 are two 31 bedded wards, which manage all acute Orthopaedic admissions through the Emergency Department at WRH. As the Orthopaedic Trauma Centre for the South East this Service accepts all Traumas from the Region (St Lukes Hospital Kilkenny, SouthTipperary GeneralHospitaland Wexford GeneralHospital).
How to access this Service
- By emergency admission via one of the Emergency Departments within the Region.
- Referral by your GP to an elective Consultant clinics
