What are your mental health needs?
How do you access the mental health services in Kerry if you need support?
If you would like support for issues around your mental health, you can access this support through your GP. We recommend talking to your GP as the best way to get support. Your GP is best positioned to recommend the appropriate level of care.
Many people manage their mental health through the Primary Care services by receiving medication from their GP and/or receiving counselling from the Counselling in Primary Care (CIPC) service. Many other people benefit from accessing support from community services such as Pieta House, Jigsaw Kerry, Kerry Peer Support Network, Grow, Shine, Aware, Samaritans, Kerry Lifeline, South West Counselling Service, Kerry Adolescent Counselling Centre, the Social Health and Education Project (SHEP) and the Kerry Mental Health Association.
Some people require more supports and then the GP makes a referral to the Kerry Mental Health Services.
If you are under 18, your GP will refer you to the Kerry Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
If you are over 18, your GP will refer you to the Adult Mental Health Services in Kerry. There are five adult teams which are organised by geographical area - click below for more information on each team. Your GP and the mental health service will make sure that you are referred into the correct team.
