Marriage Postal Notification - for couples who live outside of Ireland

Marriage Postal Notification

If either party to the marriage are living abroad or are unable to attend a Registration Office due to serious illness, they should contact a Registrar of Marriages to obtain agreement to make their 3 month notification by post. The Registrar will send you the relevant form which you must complete and return.

In the case where agreement is made with the registrar for a postal notification, the couple will still need to make arrangements to meet the Registrar at least 5 days (or a lesser number of days with the agreement of the Registrar) before they get married in order to make the declaration of no impediment to the marriage and receive the Marriage Registration Form.
