Childhood and other Immunisation Programmes

"Vaccines are one of the greatest achievements of biomedical science and public health" (CDC, 1999)

Public Health Departments provide some of the epidemiological expertise and support for the implementation of the childhood and other immunisation programmes, working with the National Immunisation Office and the National Immunisation Advisory Committee.

The aim of immunisation programmes is to maximise childhood immunisation uptake so that children will not suffer from vaccine-preventable diseases.
