Looking for a Christmas gift with a difference, or that unique hand-crafted item for someone special? Then why not drop along to the annual Christmas Fair at the HSE Rural Training Centre located on the Humbert Way Castlebar?
This year, the Christmas Fair will be held on Sunday 13th December, starting at 12.30 pm, and all items are on a first come first served basis. The craft items on offer are all designed and hand made by the service users of the Centre, who are supported by a team of dedicated staff.
The selection of items on sale this year includes fabric crafts, floral wreaths, lavender bags, quilts, handmade wooden bird tables, home baking, chutneys, Christmas wreaths and cribs and floral table décor.
Speaking on behalf of the Centre, Andy Neary, Acting Manager, says: We have an exciting range of items on sale again this year, many of which are unique to the Centre. It is a testament to the service users, who partake in all aspects of our craft programme, that this Christmas Fair is such a success every year. The HSE Rural Training Centre is part of the Rehab/ Recovery Services of Mayo Mental Health, and events such as the crafts fair are all part of the recovery process for service users.
Mr Neary continued:This event is open to everyone, and we would particularly welcome community groups and all who have an interest in the making of crafts. It is also a rewarding experience for people to see the demand and interest that isexpressed in the Fair every year by our loyal customer base.
Tea and Coffee refreshments will be served on the day, and a draw will be held for a voucher worth €50 valid for the 2010 season for any of the garden centre produce at the Centre. The HSE Rural Training Centre in Castlebar can be contacted on094 904 2127.
