Getting involved

Do you use the health services in Ireland? Do you think service users should have more of a say on issues to do with the development and delivery of health and social services?

The HSE, National Advocacy Unit houses a database of contact details of service users and community group representatives who are interested in participating in local or national events relating to the design, development and or delivery of Irish health and social services.

The database is maintained by the National Advocacy Unit in line with best practice and the Data Protection Act 1988-2003, and will only be used for the purpose outlined above.  Names and contact details will not be released to third parties.

If you wish to register your contact details with the HSE, National Advocacy Unit please complete the following Service User Involvement and Consultation online form, or you can simply print off the form as a PDF file and post it back to:

Rachel McEvoy, The National Advocacy Unit, Quality and Patient Safety Directorate, Merlin Park Hospital, Galway.

How else can I get involved?

  • You can have your say directly through the Your Service Your Say site by submitting comments, compliments and or complaints about health care in Ireland.
  • If your local hospital or health care centre is carrying out a patient experience survey or recording patient stories, you may help them to provide a more patient centered service by completing the survey or taking part in service user initiatives.
  • You can review 'You and Your Health Service'and familiarise yourself with 'What you can expect from your health service and what your health service can expect from you'.
  • Talking with your doctor and medical team: Your doctor and medical team work hard to keep you healthy, but quality health care is a team effort. You have an important role to play to make sure you receive the best care possible. Get involved in your health care. Talk to your doctor and medical team. Quick tips when talking to your doctor.
  • You can also upload examples of successful participation initiatives via the HSE Change Hub. Please view the terms and conditions.

Remember the HSE is your service, have your say.
