In March 2009 the HSE amended the qualifications specified for consultant posts to reflect the introduction of a new Register by the Medical Council arising from the Medical Practitioners Act 2007.
The qualifications specified by the HSE require that consultants be registered as Specialist on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the relevant speciality.
