Families delight at Vaccination Centre experience

The HSE Walk-In Vaccination Centres are continuing to act as a very flexible option for all age groups. Of the 9,500 people who availed of the Walk In Centres across the country last weekend,  over 50% were in the 12 – 15 age group.  With over 6.9 million vaccines having been administered to date, this week will see 90% of all adults fully vaccinated.

At CityWest Vaccination Centre, they are continuing to provide vaccines to all age groups.  In recent weeks Dr Chris Fitzpatrick, Dublin Midlands Hospital Group Clinical Lead for Vaccination, confirmed that the centre had reached the significant milestone of having administered 300,000 vaccines. This was reached just as the vaccination programme was extended to the 12 to 15 age group.  The weeks since will have seen that number continue to increase and that number has now reached over 400,00.  Dr Fitzpatrick described the excitement among 12 – 15 year olds who were coming to the centre.  They were all very keen to get the vaccine and he described as “impressive” their level of knowledge around the vaccine and the overall programme.

For Michael and Rebecca Shelley who attended at the CityWest Vaccination Centre with their children, Bill (14) and Sarah (12), the experience was very positive:  “We came along with our two kids.  We felt it was the right thing to do to get them vaccinated. We were delighted to come along.  Access was so easy in terms of parking and directions.  All the staff here were great – they were great at putting everyone at ease.  It’s naturally a nervous time for any child but they made it as comfortable as possible.  The whole process of getting registered and getting vaccinated was fantastic and it was over much quicker than they ever thought and it was much easier than they expected.”
