The HSE Naas Staff Choir got their voices behind Pride 2020 with an amazing virtual performance of Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way.’ The staff choir has been continuing to sing together and connect from home during the COVID-19 restrictions and were delighted to get the invitation from LGBT Ireland to support the nationwide Pride 2020 celebrations.

“We felt it was a fantastic opportunity for us to show the HSE’s support for LGBT+. It was a challenge to record two videos virtually and something we had never done before but we were all up for and had lots of fun,” explained choir co-ordinator Siobhán Mangan. On June 24th all their hard work came to fruition at the LGBT Ireland + INMO Pride 2020 Webinar ‘Delivering Healthcare to be Proud Of’ where their performance was debuted.

The COVID-19 lockdown has certainly been a challenge for the HSE Naas Staff Choir but they have managed to make the most of the technology available to them. “Our singers could no longer gather together on Thursdays to sing, chat, laugh, and support each other in person. But that has not stopped us,” explained Siobhán. “Thanks to our wonderful director Eimear Crehan, we found a new way to come together to sing, connect, and promote staff health and wellbeing from our own homes via Zoom.

“Though a very different experience, we created a great uplifting, fulfilling, and sometimes hilarious singing and wellbeing experience from home. It has given us, as a choir, an opportunity to reflect and see why we continue to engage in this singing experience. The reason is clear - we really value this virtual choir at a time when we need this connection more than ever.”

She added, “We look forward to the future when our HSE Naas Staff Choir returns to meeting face-to-face and singing our hearts out together.”
