On Tuesday December 29th, 79-year-old Annie Lynch from Dublin became the first person in Ireland to receive the Pfizer BioNTech Covid 19 Vaccine.  On the same day Bernie Waterhouse, Clinical Nurse Manager on a designated Covid 19 Ward in St James’s Hospital became the first healthcare worker to receive the vaccine.  By early February a total of 151,212 first doses and 79,554 second doses of the vaccine had been administered.  Residents and staff in long term facilities and frontline healthcare workers were the first groups to be targeted and their delight in receiving the vaccine is captured here.
