Can a Social Movement Change the Culture in a National Health Service?

This was the title of a poster presentation by Values in Action Mid West at the 2017 International Forum on Quality and Safety in Health Care.  The International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare is a biannual gathering of healthcare professionals in quality improvement and patient safety. The International Forum supports and energises the movement for healthcare improvement and connects healthcare leaders and practitioners worldwide to improve outcomes for patients and communities.  The International Forum is jointly organised by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and BMJ. The ambition of both organisations is to improve healthcare and outcomes for patients and communities. The International Forum is sustained by an international network of quality improvement organisations and leaders.

Elaine Connolly, Communications Manager, UL Hospitals Group, Sheila Ryan, Mid- West Community Health Care, Clodagh Lawler and Des O'Toole attended the poster presentation section.  Healthcare Professionals from Ireland, Britain, Europe and the US were very interested in the model of culture change being used in Ireland.
