The purpose of this guideline is to improve the management of neonatal and paediatric patients requiring parenteral nutrition support in hospital

This guideline is intended for healthcare professionals involved in the provision and administration of PN in neonatal and paediatric units in Ireland. They are designed to guide clinical judgement but not replace it. In individual cases a healthcare professional may, after careful consideration, decide not to follow a guideline if it is deemed to be in the best interests of the child or infant.
