Centres of Nursing and Midwifery Education (CNMEs)
There are 12 HSE Centres for Nursing and Midwifery Education (CNMEs) and 8 voluntary CNMEs including:
- Centres for Nursing and Midwifery Education
- Centres of Nurse Education
- Centres of Midwifery Education
- Centres of Learning and Development
- Centre of Children's Nurse Education
The CNMEs are involved in:
- supporting education to roll out and implement national clinical programmes. For example, diabetes, older persons and mental health.
- providing nurse and midwife continuing professional development
- ensuring that CPD activities provided for nurses and midwives by CNMEs are in line with service need and as advocated by national clinical programmes under the governance of the respective Boards of Management
- recording, monitoring and auditing the provision of nurse and midwife CPD
- supporting delivery of QQI Health Care Skills award Level 5 programme for Health Care Assistants via the CNMEs
