Palliative Care Patients' Videos

Person and Family engagment

All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care (AIIHPC) and the Health Service Executive (HSE) Quality Improvement Division (Republic of Ireland) collaborated to produce eight short videos of personal experiences of palliative care across the island of Ireland during 2018. The project was also supported by the Public Health Agency (Northern Ireland).

These videos, which were invaluable for Palliative Care Week 2018, are a resource to promote wider public conversation and discussion around palliative care; and promote learning and education among health and social care professionals. AIIHPC encourages people to make use of these very valuable resources.

AIIHPC is grateful to those people who talked about their palliative care experiences and their families. We are also grateful to palliative care staff members featured in some videos.

The videos represent a range of experiences from children’s palliative care through to palliative care for adults. They include experiences related to motor neurone disease, cancers, multiple sclerosis; and to care at home, support through day services, care as a hospice inpatient and respite care.

The videos, along with a transcript of each film, are available on The Palliative Hub at these links: adult and children. All of the 2018 videos can be viewed at this link

We hope this will make them easily accessible for use in a variety of ways, and we encourage you to let others know about them.
