Girls Only HPV programme
The school programme is currently on hold, no vaccines will be given by the HSE School Vaccination Teams at this time. We will update this page as information becomes available.
This school year (2019-2020) the HSE will continue to allow girls who previously refused the HPV vaccine an opportunity to join the HPV girls only vaccination programme.
Girls must be in 2nd - 6th year of secondary school to join the girls only HPV vaccination programme.
The HPV catch up vaccines are available to girls in mop-up clinics. Please contact your local school vaccination team to request an appointment.
You will need to consent for HPV vaccine to be given. You will receive a consent pack containing
- Consent Form (under the age of 15) Girls under the age of 15 need 2 doses of HPV 4 vaccine.
- Consent Form (over the age of 15) Girls over the age of 15 will need 3 doses of HPV 4 vaccine.
Please read this information carefully and if you have any questions before signing the consent form please contact your local school vaccination team.
The vaccine used in the girls only catch up programme in Ireland is called Gardasil4. It is manufactured by MSD. Please read
- Gardasil 4 - Summary of Product Characteristics (SPC) and
- Gardasil 4 - Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) for more information about the vaccine.
Any girl who has left secondary school will need to purchase HPV vaccine privately and also pay for the vaccine to be given. Talk to your GP or womens health clinic for advice about this.
