Risks of not getting treatment
By not getting treatment you increase your chances of developing:
- serious liver disease
- cirrhosis
- permanent liver damage such as liver cancer
- liver failure
Drinking alcohol
If you have hepatitis C and you drink large amounts of alcohol you increase the risk of serious liver damage.
People with HIV
If you have HIV you have a greater chance of developing liver damage and cirrhosis if you have hepatitis C. If you have both, you need to get treatment.
