History of St. Davnet's Hospital

St. Davnet's

St. Davnet’s Psychiatric Hospital Monaghan was established in 1869 under the 1820 Lunacy (Ireland Act), then known as Monaghan District Lunatic Asylum, to serve the mental health requirements of counties Monaghan and Cavan. The hospital itself played a key role in the social and economic development of the town and surrounding areas.
