HSE national guideline for the assessment promotion and management of continence in adults using a nursing assessment tool with client consent.

For healthcare professionals undertaking bladder and bowel assessments for adults with continence care needs; provide clear guidance for registered nurses, managers and staff involved in promoting continence care and approving products for clients and their carers or families. All adults with continence care needs will have a comprehensive evidence based bladder and bowel assessment undertaken by a trained registered nurse and be provided with an individualised plan of care.
