Smoking Cessation

The HSE Specialist Smoking Cessation Service provides comprehensive support to tobacco users. This intensive service offers face-to-face behavioural support to help smokers prepare and plan their quit attempt. The service is available free of charge to all tobacco users and is particularly appropriate for clients who are having difficulty or struggling to stop smoking. What your client can expect when they attend the Clinic

Clients are seen by appointment and each session lasts approximately 30 minutes
Cessation support is provided over a number of sessions, up to 7 sessions
Clients do not set a quit date at first session
Clients are helped to increase their motivation and confidence to stop smoking and to improve the personal coping skills necessary for a successful quit
After smokers stop, they are offered on-going support to help sustain their quit over time
All clients are followed up at 4 weeks, 3 months and 1 year after their quit
This service is free of charge to all smokers
