UL Hospitals Chief Operations Manager, (COM), Liam Casey is responsible for the UL Hospitals Facilities Department. The COM has commenced a collaborative project with the Patient Advocacy Liaison Manager to design a service user satisfaction survey to ensure service user input in the planning and design of future quality improvement initiatives within the facilities department.
The Facilities Department Manager at UL Hospitals is Ms. Niamh O’Grady. Niamh and her team are responsible for the provision of ‘soft’ services including the following:
Car parking facilities are available throughout the UL Hospitals including designated Disabled Driver parking facilities.

There is a charge for parking at UHL, Euro car parks are contracted at this site to manage the service. Mr. Derek Mc Inerney is Site Manager for Euro Car Parks.

- 20 minutes to 1 hour - €2
- 2 hours to 4 hours - €4
- Every hour thereafter is charged at €1 per hour, subject to a maximum daily rate of €10
- Lost tickets are charged €10 per day
- There is a dedicated Disabled car park located near the Out-patients department. At peak times Euro Car Park staff will facilitate disabled drivers in the public car parks.
Resource are contracted for the provision of security services to the UL Hospitals. The scope of services includes security patrolling 24/7 (both internal and external), CCTV monitoring and operation and alarm response at UHL, Maternity Hospital and Ennis Hospital. The contract is managed by a Security Manager, John O’Reilly, with the support of six on-site Supervisors and a Mobile Supervision Team.
ACACIA are contracted to provide a security service to Nenagh Hospital, Croom Hospital is supported by HSE staff.
UL Hospitals have a Portering Service on each site The porters' role is diverse and covers everything from patient moving/handling, transportation of charts, laboratory and pharmacy services to the removal of waste. The portering team is lead by Mr. Paul Moore, Interim Head Porter.
The catering team are committed to delivering a high quality food service to patients, visitors and staff. Meals are provided by the Catering Department to patients, visitors and staff. The team also provides corporate catering for meetings/functions on each site.
The opening hours for the UL Hospital Restaurants are displayed on each site. Catering Services are available on each ward during your stay in UL Hospitals; these facilities include light snacks for patients during out of hours when the main catering department is closed. Visitors are encouraged to avail of the numerous catering facilities in the UL Hospitals, these include coffee docks, shops, restaurants and vending machines.
A service users satisfaction survey started in February 2014 to ensure service user input in the planning and design of future quality improvement initiatives within the restaurant facility of the catering department. A further survey of inpatient ward/department experience is planned 2014.
The UHL team is led by Mr. James Stack, Catering Consultant with Brook Catering. The catering team comprises of Ms. Marie Green, Catering Officer, Ms. Mary Ryan, Executive Chef and Ms. Noreen Ryan, Supervisor. The team also includes chefs and catering attendants.
Cleaning Services throughout the UL Hospitals include both in-house and contracted cleaning teams. UL Hospitals are committed to ensuring that the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness is achieved and maintained throughout the premises. Hospital management values the contribution that patients can make to this process by reporting or giving feedback on any cleaning and hygiene issues. Please do this while you are at the hospital by informing any member of staff, who will make direct contact with the Cleaning Services staff. We also encourage you and your visitors to make an effort to keep the hospital clean and tidy.
The in-house cleaning services team includes three Supervisors Ms. Geraldine Harty, Ms. Brid O’Malley and Ms. Betty Cantillon. The contract cleaning team includes Ms. Aileen Hennessy, Onsite Manager and Supervisors Ms. Sinéad Costello, Ms. Marion Cagney and Mr. Adrian Reilly.
UL Hospitals laundry service provides a linen and scrub suit service in compliance with national hygiene standards to all sites.
There are no laundry services available for personal items during your hospital stay. Soiled or wet laundry can be placed in a special plastic bag for collection by your relatives or carers at their earliest convenience.
Laundry Services are provided by the Hygiene services team.
