To assess, diagnose and treat people who have communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
Description of Service
The Speech and Language Therapy Department provides services to inpatients who have been admitted with an acute stroke. Onward referrals to community Speech and Language Therapist services will be made for patients who require follow-up.
Patients in the hospital who present with communication and/or swallowing difficulties as a result of an acute stroke should be referred to the Speech and Language Therapist by the team of doctors looking after the patient.
