There are 9 Area Leads for Engagement, each of whom are members of the Community Healthcare Organisation (CHO) Area Mental Health Management Team. The purpose of these posts are to consult with and present the views of service users, family members and carers through engagement and partnership and to influence decision making at Area Management level. The Area Leads develop structures that allow for the involvement of service users, family members and carers in the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of mental health services.
These structures consist of formal and informal groups, some called forums, set up across the country. These forums provide a place for service users, family members and carers to give feedback about their experience of the mental health services.
