Separation: self-help books

When Parents Separate: Helping Your Children Cope
Authors John Sharry et al., 2001

'Very simply written and easy to read. Aimed at parents but child-focused. Deals with parents’ problems and how they impact on children too'.

Review: This is a book aimed at parents about how to deal with separation when there are children involved. It is thoughtfully written and easy to read. The focus of attention is children and how best to support them but it also acknowledges the difficulties faced by the parents. The style of writing is gentle and supportive. It promotes the child’s well-being  It touches on topics such as violence, abuse, medication and provides for further support at the back. It is a short book and therefore a non-intimidating source of advice and excellent starting point.
