Cavan Monaghan Vaccination Centre officially opened at St Davnet’s Health Campus, Rooskey, Co.Monaghan

A new vaccination hub  has officially opened at St Davnet’s Health Campus in Rooskey, Co. Monaghan.

The Cavan Monaghan Vaccination Hub is offering primary and booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to the public.

The new centre became operational on Wednesday November 16 2022 and was officially opened on Monday December 13 by Chief Officer Community Healthcare Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo Dermot Monaghan.

The centre opens three days per week alternatively on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday one week and  Wednesday Thursday and Saturday the following week. Opening hours are 10.30am to 1pm and 1.45pm to 4.30pm but are subject to change.

You can book an appointment or the centre also offers a walk-in service.

The COVID-19 Vaccination Centre began its journey in Monaghan in April 2021, when it was based in the Hillgrove Hotel Monaghan. It then relocated to the Glencarn Hotel in August 2021 and remained there until May 2022. Cavan CVC began at the Hotel Kilmore in April 2021 also and ceased as a static centre in June of this year.

There are now 15 vaccination centres nationally in operation along with pop up clinics and vaccination hubs. The focus in Cavan and Monaghan was to provide locally accessible pop up clinics in key locations.

Pop up clinics were operational in different locations across Cavan Monaghan. A pop up clinic in Carrickmacross will continue to be operational on a monthly basis, while a clinic in Drumalee will operate twice weekly and a pop up will be held monthly in Ballyjamesduff.

The Cavan Monaghan COVID-19 Vaccination Team has completed almost 150,000 COVID-19 Vaccinations since the start of the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

Most of these were completed through the vaccination centres in Cavan (84,975), Monaghan (57,979) and pop up clinics (6,069) A further 219 vaccinations were completed by HSE mobile vaccination unit. The mobile vaccination unit also visited homes, residential care facilities, HSE workplaces and Education centres across the two counties since the start of the COVID-19 vaccination programme.
