HSE advise that people aged 18 – 49 years are now eligible to receive their second COVID-19 booster

Currently, there are high levels of respiratory viruses, including COVID-19, in circulation in the community. Therefore it’s important that all eligible people avail of COVID-19 booster to protect themselves and those around them from serious COVID-19 illness.

All people in the 18-49 years age group are eligible for their second COVID-19 booster, provided it is six months since their last vaccine or since they had a COVID-19 infection.

You can check the number of COVID-19 vaccines you have already received and the date of your last COVID-19 vaccine on your digital COVID-19 certificate.

There are a number of options for those in Cavan Monaghan to get their vaccines over the next week.

Sinead McConnell, General Manager, Covid Vaccination Programme HSE Community Healthcare Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Sligo said: “We are inviting everyone aged 18-49 years for their second booster, once it is six months since their last vaccine or six months since they had a COVID-19 infection. Vaccination is an effective, safe way to protect you and people around you from flu or COVID-19. You can get your vaccine by presenting at any of our walk in clinics or through booking an appointment online.”

Dr Lois O’Connor, Consultant in Public Health Medicine, HSE Public Health Area A said: “The current high levels of COVID-19 is affecting healthcare settings, long-term care facilities, and other settings with vulnerable people. We would urge everyone eligible to avail of the COVID-19 vaccine, those aged 18-49 can now get their second COVID-19 booster vaccine. COVID-19 can affect anyone, young or old and vaccination is an effective, safe way to protect you and people around you from serious illness due to COVID-19. This is especially important for those at higher risk including older people, those with chronic health conditions and those who are pregnant. You can get the flu vaccine and COVID-19 booster vaccine at the same time.”
