HSE encourages people to be winter ready

28 October 2022

The HSE is encouraging people to be winter ready by getting their recommended Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations.  Flu and COVID-19 viruses are now circulating in our communities and as they are different viruses you will need two vaccines to be protected against both.

Sligo and Leitrim COVID-19 Vaccination Centres and Pop up mobile clinics are offering primary vaccinations and adapted bivalent mRNA booster doses to eligible cohorts.  New adapted COVID-19 vaccines are now being offered as booster doses. These vaccines offer increased protection against COVID-19, including the Omicron variant.

Getting the Flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself, your family, colleagues and our health services. To book your Flu vaccine and to check if you are one of the eligible groups please contact your GP or check with your local pharmacy.  You can also check which pharmacy is delivering flu vaccines via the pharmacy finder: https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/flu/pharmacies-flu/

This will ensure you are winter ready and that you are protecting yourself and those around you from circulating winter viruses and the negative impact they can have. We are delighted to expand our COVID-19 Vaccination Service to areas outside of our Sligo and Leitrim vaccination centres, with the introduction of our new Mobile Vaccination Unit and Pop up clinics. This week we will be attending Enniscrone, Tubbercurry and Dromahair. We will be rotating locations throughout the 2 counties in the coming weeks and months, so please look out for a clinic near you.”
