The National Doctors Training & Planning (NDTP) launched an E-Portfolio for all NCHDs

Earlier today, 20th May 2021, the National Doctors Training & Planning (NDTP) launched an E-Portfolio for all NCHDs, through their National Employment Record (NER) portal.

It is a free online logbook that enables them to record their training and career development, ensuring they can maintain an easy and convenient record of their progress. It also provides them with the opportunity to have their experiences validated by their supervising consultant where applicable.

All NCHDs will be able to access the E-Portfolio, however it is specifically aimed at doctors not currently working in training posts. This allows NCHDs who are not on a formal training scheme to have access to a generic standard logbook to record their training and career development.

Speaking of the launch NCHD E-Portfolio NCHD Lead Dr Carol Norton said “This is an important initiative for both NCHDs and Consultants alike. It allows our NCHDs to maintain and manage their training logs and enables Consultants to validate the data in a convenient and time efficient manner.”

There are approximately 7,400 NCHD doctors who all have access to the NER and internal mailing will be used to communicate to those in the system. The NER was introduced in 2015 to reduce the burden of paperwork on NCHDS by providing a central location for pre-employment documentation to be stored and accessed by their employers. NCHDs no longer have to upload the same employment documents as they rotate to a new clinical role.  NCHDs also use the NER to submit electronic applications to claim for the financial education schemes such as the Training Support Scheme (TSS) and the Clinical Course and Exam Refund Scheme (CCERS).
