HSE MEDIA RELEASE: April 26, 2021
Last week the vaccination centres in Cavan, at the Hotel Kilmore and Monaghan at the Hillgrove Hotel become public facing. These centres are under the governance of Community Healthcare Organisation area 1 (CHO 1) (Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan and Sligo)
Nationally thousands of members of the general public in 65-69 age group have registered since the launch of the HSE’s national portal: https://vaccine.hse.ie/
From Friday April 23, the invitation to register for vaccination was extended to those in the 60 to 64 year old age cohort. Those aged 64 were invited to register with each year following each day, i.e. 63 year olds on Saturday, 62 year olds on Sunday, 61 year olds on Monday and 60 year olds on Tuesday, with any age in this cohort able to register on any date from Tuesday April 27th onwards.
Cavan and Monaghan Vaccination Centres were extremely busy over the first couple of days after opening.
On Friday Eamonn Smith from this cohort was one of those who received the vaccination in Cavan, while Richard Malone from this cohort also received his vaccination in Monaghan.
To date in 2021, the COVID-19 vaccine roll out in the HSE CHO 1 area has been concentrated on four cohorts: (1) Residents and staff in nursing homes and long stay residential care facilities; (2) Healthcare workers in the HSE and other entities; (3) Those over 70, via their GPs and (4) The medically vulnerable.
The HSE Vaccination Centres are of varying sizes, reflecting local population needs and the availability of appropriate facilities in particular locations. The Centres in Cavan and Monaghan have 10 booths each and the capacity to deliver some 1,000 vaccinations per day. Currently there are three to four booths operational at each site but this can be scaled up to 10 booths as required. There will be staffed by a team of 18 administration staff and 20 vaccination staff per site. The staff include Pharmacists, retired GP’s, retired Nurses and Paramedics.
There's no charge for getting your Covid-19 vaccine. It's free. The HSE’s aim in offering Covid 19 vaccines to the population is to protect people and reduce the illness and deaths caused by this virus.
Head of Vaccination Programme for the CHO 1 area of Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan and Sligo Ms Cara O’Neill said; “We have gained a huge amount of experience from the vaccination programme to date. This has been a key success factor in setting up the Cavan and Monaghan vaccination centres. We want your vaccination experience to be a positive one and we look forward to welcoming you to the centres.”
Those in the eligible cohorts can register for their vaccines by logging on to www.hse.ie or by ringing HSE Live on 1850 24 1850
