Green Procurement Guidance for the Public Sector - Published in 2014 by the Environmental Protection Agency. The guidance document was developed to assist the public sector to implement and maintain procedures for green public procurement.
Implementation of Green Procurement Factsheet
Green Tenders Action Plan on GPP - Published in 2012 by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform. It is the first such Action Plan to be introduced in Ireland. Its overall objective is to assist public bodies to successfully plan and implement green public procurement by highlighting existing best-practice and outlining further actions to boost green public procurement.
Energy Supply to the HSE and funded organisations
The National Health Sustainabiliy Office, in conjunction with HBS Procurement and the Office of Government Procurement, recently completed a number of competitions for the supply of Energy to the HSE and funded organisations. Each energy type will now be supplied by a single supplier which will allow for economy of scale and better capacity to monitor and report on the health sector's energy use. Supply of locally grown produce to the Catering Department at Cork University Hospital.
CUH catering department links with a local community garden to supply it with seasonal locally grown vegetables and herbs. Churchfield Community Trust (CCT), who will be supplying the produce, offer training, work and enterprise skills to disadvantaged young men in the North of Cork City.
