Venue: Aviva Stadium
Date: October 5th, 2019
On Saturday the 5th of October The Annual Medical Careers Day 2019 took place at the Aviva Stadium. The event is a joint initiative between the Health Service Executive (HSE), the Forum of Irish Postgraduate Medical Training Bodies and the Irish Medical Council. The event highlights the realities of working and training as a doctor in Ireland and the options available for medical specialisation.
The goal of this event is to widen the perspective of medical graduates towards the variety of career paths open to them and give them the environment to enquire about the excellent training opportunities offered by the different areas of medicine. The day offered information stands for each postgraduate training body and seminars, presentation, workshops and career clinics to help medical graduates with their career planning.
The programme offered a variety of different career insights around the array of medical specialties. Attendees were able to go visit the presentations and stands which interested them and learn about the importance of the learning environment for trainee doctors and guidance on how to pursue a successful and long-lasting medical career. Attendees were given the opportunity to speak with senior trainees and consultants from each of the training bodies and learn about the collection of training programmes available.
