This competency framework, produced in accordance with An Integrated Workforce Planning Strategy for the Health Services 2009-2014, sets out a range of competencies that reflect the wide range of staff who are involved in workforce planning, whether as part of their activities as managers of people and services or as part of a specialist workforce planning function. The strategic, specialist and generic
aspects of the competencies are also reflected in the framework. The competencies relevant to the different roles are identified in the framework and individuals should select the mix of competencies that best reflects their role. By assessing oneself against the relevant competencies one can identify one's learning needs with regard to workforce planning.
