Mayo University Hospital – their story continues….

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

Mayo University Hospital Staff Engagement Forum

A lot can happen in 1 year and the solid growth of the Staff Engagement Forum at Mayo General Hospital is proof of what can be achieved by a hard-working group who are all passionate about promoting the positive experience for all staff.  I was invited to the launch of the Staff Recognition Awards on the 10th June, this was one of a number of initiatives that staff had highlighted in feedback that was important for them. The atmosphere around the hospital was contagious (in a good way) - spreading quickly amongst staff and visitors made stronger by the fantastic music provided by our own John Kilkenny and students from his music school.   We have captured the MUH staff engagement journey in 3 blogs, where you can find here

The benefits of having a Staff Engagement Forum in this setting are clear and obvious to staff, they can see that the forum has important things to offer them. I was lucky enough to catch-up with Forum members Sarah Ronayne and Fintan Staunton so I could capture and share their experiences. Sarah describes how the MUH Staff Engagement forum was established and their journey so far (Sarah's Story ) and Fintan explains why he jumped at becoming a member (Fintan's Story ). Elaine Fallon gave me an insight into her new role of Group Lead for Staff Engagement and wellbeing in the Saolta Hospital Group (Elaine's Story ).
