Emergency Nursing - National Foundation Programme (Level 8)

The programme is delivered over 26 weeks using a blended learning approach. It is available at

  • Munster Technological University (Tralee campus)
  • South East Technological University (Waterford Campus)
  • Technological University of the Shannon (Athlone Campus)
  • Atlantic Technological University (Letterkenny Campus)
  • Dundalk Institute of Technology

The programme is delivered annually January to June.

The programme is delivered using a blended learning approach. Students will attend for 2 days over the 26 weeks, with online work undertaken between college days. The focus of the days in college will be skills development and acquisition.

It is envisaged that the knowledge and skills gained in this programme will prepare the ED nurse for progression onto the Post Grad Diploma in Specialist Nursing (Emergency).

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply you must:

  • be a Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
  • be currently employed in a HSE or HSE funded Emergency Department/Injury Unit for the duration of the programme
  • funding is via NMPDU application process
