Social Workers work as part of the multidisciplinary team in Oncology, offering a range of professional services to Oncology / Breast Care / Haematology service users and their families.

Where are we:
We are located in the Old School of Nursing, on the grounds of University Hospital Waterford and on Medical 4 Ward.
What we do:
- Counselling and support to help patients and families adjust to their diagnosis and to plan for the future
- Practical support, information and referral regarding social welfare entitlements and benefits
- Information on a range of organisations and community services, locally and nationally
- Referral to specialised sources of care in the community
- Bereavement support and counselling

You can self-refer or be referred by anyone involved in your care. Family members and carers can request to speak to a social worker.
